Spanish authors' and publishers' society SGAE today (March 11) expressed its "firm condemnation and repulsion of the brutal terrorist attacks" that hit Madrid this morning.

Latest reports suggest at least 180 people are dead and 1,000 injured after bombs ripped through three trains in the Spanish capital.

Some 500 SGAE workers held a one-minute silence in front of the society's Madrid headquarters at 1 p.m. SGAE has some 68,000 members, mainly in the music industry in Spain and Latin America.

The Spanish government has blamed the Basque separatist armed organization ETA for the blasts.
