Warner Music Australia chairman/CEO Shaun James was re-elected chairman of the Phonographic Performance Co. of Australia (PPCA) board at the body's annual general meeting last week in Sydney. He will serve a one-year term.

The PPCA licenses the broadcast and public performance of all sound recordings and music videos for registered record companies and artists.

In a statement, James says, "PPCA remains committed to increasing its license revenue, particularly from broadcasters, to the benefit of both record companies and Australian recording artists."

Also serving on the board are George Ash (managing director, Universal Music Australia), Libby Blakey (business affairs director, Festival Mushroom Records), Denis Handlin (chairman/CEO, Sony Music Entertainment Australia), John O'Donnell (MD, EMI Music Australia) and Ed St. John (MD, BMG Australia).

In addition, three of the board members represent recording artists. Former Skyhooks bassist Greg Macainsh and onetime Go-Betweens drummer Lindy Morrison were voted to the board by artists. Nominated by the Music Managers' Forum on behalf of artist managers was Bill Cullen of One Louder Entertainment (Alex Lloyd, Amiel, Shane Nicholson). Cullen takes over from Michael McMartin of Melody Management (Hoodoo Gurus), who resigned late last year.
