New York-based Giant Step Records has signed a distribution deal with Caroline. The deal encompasses all Giant Step releases on CD and many on 12-inch vinyl. Giant Step will continue to work with various independent distributors for select 12-inch singles.

"Working with Caroline helps us get into the larger chains," explains Giant Step president and co-founder Maurice Bernstein.

Forthcoming albums from Giant Step include Carl Hancock Rux's "Apothecary," Jiva's "Sun and Moon" and the compilation "Simply Good Music, Vol. 1." In a special arrangement with David Byrne's Luaka Bop Records, Giant Step will issue the next Zap Mama single, "Bandy Bandy," with remixes by Carl Craig. The track was produced by ?uestlove of the Roots.

Additionally, Giant Step has partnered with New York DJ/production crew Turntables On The Hudson. A new compilation, "Turntables on the Hudson, Vol. 5," will travel through the Caroline network.

Last year, Giant Step partnered with Motown for the rerelease of the album "The Colored Section" by Atlanta newcomer Donnie. The deal includes upcoming releases from the artist. The album peaked at No. 31 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Giant Step originally released "The Colored Section" in 2002.
