Yamaha, the musical instrument/pro audio equipment manufacturer, and production software developer Steinberg have formed an alliance, Studio Connections. The project was announced yesterday (March 31) at the Musikmesse trade show in Frankfurt.

Studio Connections will attempt to integrate solutions for the music and media production market, combining hardware and software to produce flexible and efficient audio-production systems.

Initial hardware and software releases are planned for the second half of 2004.

Studio Connections is integrating a new version of Yamaha's Studio Manager technology with Steinberg's DAW applications Nuendo and Cubase SX. Studio Manager Version 2 functions as the host for a range of editing software for digital mixing consoles, synthesizers and effects processors.
