Jorge Ballesteros has been appointed VP/GM of the regional Mexican and Tejano division of EMI Music U.S. Latin. Ballesteros, who is based in San Antonio, reports to Jorge A. Pino, president/CEO of EMI Music U.S. Latin.

Ballesteros, who was previously national director of A&R and promotions for Disa, replaces Miguel Trujillo, who has left EMI to pursue other interests. Trujillo's departure coincided with EMI's worldwide restructuring efforts, although sources say it was not related.

EMI Music U.S. Latin lost a total of four positions to those cuts. The most senior staffer to exit was Alba Eagan, longtime VP of marketing. Also departed is Sara Castillo, who headed press efforts for EMI's regional Mexican/Tejano division.

Sources say EMI's U.S. Latin operation is now down to 37 staffers. No cuts are expected to the artist roster, which is already lean. EMI has had a strong quarter with releases by Intocable, Thalia and newcomer DJ Kane.
