Loudeye Corp. has inked a digital distribution agreement with Saregama India, one of India's largest music companies.

Under the deal, Loudeye will deliver Saregama's catalog -- home to Bollywood acts as well as Ravi Shankar and Zakir Hussain -- to online music services that sell downloads and subscriptions.

The deal is part of a new indie-content aggregation initiative by Loudeye. The effort, known as IndieSource, caters to independent labels looking to sell their music through digital services. It also intends to serve as a one-stop resource for retailers of digital music looking to add indie content.

Loudeye is one of a growing number of companies targeting the indie aggregation space. IODA, Digital Rights Agency and the Orchard are pursuing similar strategies.

Saregama is a unit of India-based conglomerate RPG Enterprises and a licensee of the HMV brand name in India.
