Peter Loraine and Karen Simmonds have been promoted, respectively, to directors of marketing at Universal Music divisions Polydor U.K. and Polydor Associated Labels (PAL).

The London-based executives--heads of marketing of their respective units since 2001--will report to Polydor joint-managing director David Joseph.

Says Joseph in a statement: "Karen and Peter are outstanding, highly creative executives whose teams have delivered an incredible breadth of projects, from Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters and Black Eyed Peas to Daniel Bedingfield and Guns 'N' Roses. Their promotions are very well deserved."

Loraine joined Polydor in April 1998 as artist development manager from Top Of The Pops magazine, where he was editor. In November 2001, he became Polydor U.K. head of marketing.

Simmonds in 1999 transfered from MCA to Polydor after the Polygram acquisition to take the role as PAL marketing manager. She was head of marketing at Mute Records from 1995-1997.
