Tony Brown, a senior partner at Universal South Records, has been named producer of the year in the 39th annual Academy of Country Music Awards. Billy Sherrill was named audio engineer of the year. They are among the winners announced prior to the May 26 telecast of the ACM Awards show from Las Vegas. Winners in the artist categories will be announced during the show.

Other winners include TBA Entertainment's Fran Romeo in the talent buyer/promoter of the year category and radio station of the year winner WSIX Nashville. Syndicated overnight DJ Blair Garner of Premiere Radio Networks' "After MidNite With Blair Garner" won in the on-air personality category. The Trap in Nashville was named nightclub of the year and Boulder Station Casino in Las Vegas was named casino of the year.

In the musician categories, the winners are Brent Rowan (guitar), Michael Rhodes (bass), Eddie Bayers (drums), Paul Franklin (steel guitar), John Hobbs (piano/keyboard), Aubrie Haynie (fiddle) and Kirk "Jelly Roll" Johnson (specialty instrument).
