Mark Chesnutt has signed a new record deal with fledgling Nashville label Vivaton Records. Chesnutt's alliance with Vivaton reunites him with Shelia Shipley Biddy, executive VP national promotion and artist development at Vivaton and formerly an executive at MCA and Decca Records when Chesnutt was on those labels.
Chesnutt has four platinum albums and five gold albums. He was one of Billboard's 10 most-played radio artists of the '90s and was recognized by the CMA as a Horizon Award Winner in 1993.
The artist is currently in the studio with producer Jimmy Ritchey working on his first Vivaton album, tentatively scheduled to be released Sept. 21. A debut single is scheduled for a mid-summer release.
Chesnutt will return to the road this summer in support of the new project with his tour themed Save the Honky Tonk, booked by Buddy Lee Attractions.
Vivaton officially opened its doors Feb. 1. The Vivaton roster now includes Chely Wright, Tonic Sol Fa, Cissy and Angela Wolff.
