EMI Finland has let go four employees, Billboard.biz has learned. Sources say Virgin marketing manager Jone Nikula and A&R manager Sami Häikiö have left the company. The other two staff cuts are understood to have affected the marketing department. The Helsinki-based company now has 14 staffers.

Häikiö was EMI Finland's A&R manager for three years, with responsibilities for the company's pop and rock repertoire. Since joining EMI in 2003, Nikula has established a high public profile as one of the four judges in the Finnish version of "Pop Idol".

A spokesperson for EMI Group in London could not be reached for comment at deadline.

EMI Finland's managing director Wemppa Koivumäki declined to comment on the departures, but confirmed Gabi Hakanen has returned to the company as A&R manager. Hakanen was A&R at EMI Finland from 1990-1999. He left the major to set up production company Inkfish, which he co-owns. During that time, he maintained a link with the major through handling A&R for its acts Neljä Ruusua and CMX.
