First album slated for early 2005.

Def Soul Classics has signed the Isley Brothers featuring Ronald Isley.

The veteran R&B group will release its first album for the Def Jam division in the first quarter of 2005.

The brothers recently cut the duet "Gotta Go Solo," with labelmate Patti LaBelle. Her May 4 release "Timeless Journey" marks the inaugural project for Def Soul Classics.

This year's BET Awards will honor the duo with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Ronald and brother Ernie were most recently signed to DreamWorks Records, where the pair released 2001's "Eternal" and "Body Kiss" in 2003.

"Eternal" debuted at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 1.2 million copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. "Body Kiss" peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and has sold 746,000 copies to date.

The Isley Brothers legacy scored its first major R&B hit with the 1962 No. 2 "Twist and Shout."
