The reorganization of Warner Music International (WMI) continues with the elevation of executives John Reid and Jay Durgan.

Earlier in the week, WMI realigned its European structure, regrouping its operations in Germany, Switzerland and Austria (GSA) under newly appointed WMI GSA chairman/CEO Bernd Dopp.

The latest moves see Reid -- who was managing director of WEA London Records U.K. -- upped to executive VP of marketing, effective immediately.

In what the company describes as a "response to a changing marketplace," the marketing departments of WMI and Warner Music U.K. international have been combined under Reid. Warner Music U.K. chairman Nick Phillips will assume interim responsibility for WEA London Records.

Durgan, WMI senior VP of marketing, is appointed to senior VP, business development and strategic partnerships. He and Reid report to WMI chairman/CEO Paul-Rene Albertini, and continue to be based in London.

Albertini tells Billboard.biz that Reid will oversee the exploitation of Warner Music's U.S. repertoire outside America and WMI's repertoire throughout the world.

"John is a world-class executive who has worked in Europe and in North America," says Albertini. "He has proven during his tenure at Warner U.K. that he could champion U.S. repertoire and score massive success. He will determine our priorities and make sure they are worked around the world."

On Durgan's new duties, Albertini says: "Jay's role will be fundamental in exploring new streams of revenues that will be crucial to our future. With his experience in marketing and licensing and his entrepreneurial spirit, he is the most qualified person in our organization for this job."

In a statement issued today (May 14), WMI says the new marketing structure was created to "expand international and domestic repertoire capabilities across the world, and to maximize speed in breaking new artists globally." The company explains that the realignment of its business development and strategic partnership division underpins its commitment to "developing new business models."
