Tamyra Gray scheduled as first release.

Universal Music & Video Distribution has signed a multi-year distribution agreement with Simon Fuller's New York-based 19 Recordings, say sources.

The first release through the deal will be a solo effort from Tamyra Gray, a finalist from the first season of Fuller's "American Idol" creation.

Gray recently returned to the show to perform "Rain Drops Will Fall," a ballad expected to be included on her upcoming May 25 debut.

At press time, it was believed that 19 will continue to issue albums through BMG.

BMG, UMVD and 19 Recordings executives could not be reached for comment.
