A team of builders including pickup guru Seymour Duncan and luthier Matty Baratto has made a 32-foot-long, fully functional electric guitar.

The guitar was built for the Discovery Channel Network series "BIG!" The program will air June 15; the series shows how things are made and how they work by creating oversized versions.

Builders of the 32-foot guitar also include craftsmen from Discovery Channel Network's "Monster House" and "Monster Garage" series.

The BIG! Guitar is nine times the size of a standard electric guitar and weighs over 2,500 lbs. The largest electric ever built measures 43 feet, according to Chris Stone, music-industry consultant for the BIG! guitar. But while that instrument uses six standard-sized pickups, the BIG! guitar has a single 156-lb. Humbucker pickup designed specifically for this project.

The BIG! guitar is based on an original design by Baratto and was built in five days. The pickup, built separately, took 10 days to build.
