Pianist to perform at ceremony.

Chinese concert pianist Lang Lang will be appointed the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Goodwill Ambassador in a ceremony May 20 at the U.N. headquarters in New York. At 22, he will become UNICEF's youngest Goodwill Ambassador.

Lang Lang will give a brief performance following the appointment ceremony. An endorser of Steinway pianos, he will be the first pianist to play the "Steinway Peace Piano," an instrument created to help raise funds and awareness for UNICEF.

As Goodwill Ambassador, Lang Lang will advocate and raise funds for disadvantaged children worldwide and support UNICEF's mission to ensure the rights of children to health, education, equality and protection.
