Video-store chain Blockbuster is expanding its presence in the video-game market with the acquisition of American Satellite and Video Inc.

Terms of the purchase weren't disclosed.

American Satellite operates Rhino Video Games, a regional games retail chain based in Gainesville, Fla. Rhino Video buys, sells and trades video games. It has 40 retail stores in the Southeast, including Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina.

Dallas-based Blockbuster said in a statement the purchase would help it in two areas where it wants to grow -- game retailing and trading.

Mike Vorce, Rhino's founder, will continue to manage the chain's daily operations.

Blockbuster, which is controlled by Viacom Inc., has about 8,900 stores throughout the Americas, Europe, Asia and Australia.
