Santana, who is the fifth LARAS person of the year, is being recognized for his "professional, cultural and social accomplishments." Previous honorees were Gilberto Gil, Vicente Fernández, Julio Iglesias and Emilio Estefan.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the MusiCares Foundation.

The evening will be the precursor to the fifth annual Latin Grammy Awards, which will be held Sept. 1 at Los Angeles' Shrine Auditorium and broadcast live on CBS.
