As expected, blues legend B.B. King and avant-garde Hungarian composer György Ligeti were honored in Stockholm last night with the 13th annual Polar Music Prize.

King and Ligeti were each awarded 1 million Swedish kronor ($132,447) from a donation made by the late Stig Anderson, ABBA's publisher, manager and co-lyricist.

His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden was on hand to present the prizes, following citations from Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and conductor Elgar Howarth. Ligeti sent a representative to collect his prize due to his ill health.

The prize ceremony was held for the first time at the Stockholm Concert Hall, where the Nobel Prizes are also awarded.

The presentation capped a week-long program of events in the Swedish capital, including concerts, tributes, workshops and forums.
