Zomba Music Publishing has won the race to sign rising British guitar band the Delays to a worldwide publishing deal. A source close to the deal says a number of major publishers had clamored for the band's signature.

The Delays' debut album, "Faded Seaside Glamour" (Rough Trade), entered the Official U.K. Albums Chart at No. 14 in April and is on the verge of gold certification (100,000), having shipped 80,000 units there, according to a spokesman for the band.

The Southampton, England-based four-piece will embark on a series of European festival dates, beginning with a performance at the Isle of Wight festival, June 13. They kick-off a nine-date U.S. tour in Cambridge MA on July 14. Other key dates include New York on July 15 and Los Angeles on July 28.

Rough Trade will follow up the Delays' recent U.K. top 20 chart success' "Long Time Comin'" and "Nearer Than Heaven" with a new single, "Lost in a Melody," this September. "Lost in a Melody" will feature on the band's as-yet unnamed second album.
