Michael Gudinski's Mushroom Music has hired a new creative manager ahead of its planned expansion into New Zealand. Melbourne-based Mushroom Music claims to be the largest independent publisher in Australia. Paul Harris, currently head of A&R at Reverb Music in London, will oversee the company's Sydney-based writers. Reporting to managing director Ian James, he will take the post in July.

Harris succeeds Jacqui Dennis, who will relocate to Auckland to set up Mushroom Music's New Zealand affiliate this November.
The music group represents a number of New Zealand writers, including acts the Datsuns, Betchadupa and Elemenope.
