Releases by French singers Patrick Bruel and Renaud notched double-platinum status in May, according to the latest IFPI Platinum Europe certifications. Renaud's 2002 comeback album "Boucan d'Enfer" (Noise From Hell) (Virgin) and Bruel's double studio album release from the same year "Entre Deux" (Between Two) (RCA) have each shipped more than two million units in Europe.

The period also saw five albums achieve platinum status for the first time. Diana Krall's "The Look Of Love" (Verve/Universal), HIM's "Razorblade Romance" (Terrier/BMG), KYO's "Le Chemin" (The Path) (Jive/BMG), Placebo's "Sleeping With Ghosts" (Hut/EMI), and Marvin Gaye's "Very Best Of..." (Motown/Universal) each topped one million European shipments.
