Sony Corp. of America and Bank One are launching a campaign to create awareness for the Sony Card, a credit card offering consumers reward points that can be used in purchasing Sony products.

The Sony Visa card became available in February, but Sony and Bank One are now pumping awareness via print ads in US Weekly, Rolling Stone and Men's Health. The ads feature Sony Music acts Gretchen Wilson, Switchfoot, Los Lonely Boys, Dido and Five For Fighting.

Cardholders can use points toward the purchase of Sony products such as music, movies, gaming devices, computers or electronics. Users earn triple points for every dollar in card purchases spent on Sony products purchased from sonystyle.com, Sony Style retail outlets or from Sony authorized retailers. Users earn one point for every dollar spent on other card purchases.

"The Bank One promotion through Sony is a perfect example of Sony using their muscle to create significant opportunities for an emerging artist such as Gretchen," Wilson's manager Greg Oswald of Nashville-based Dale Morris & Associates tells Billboard.biz.
