Redwood City, Calif.-based interactive software company Electronic Arts (EA) has unveiled its most recent work-of-art: the in-game song list (soundtrack) for its Madden NFL 2005 title. The 21-track song list features new titles from rock and hip hop artists including Hoobastank, Chevelle, the Hives and the Black Eyed Peas' Will.I.Am.

The soundtrack marks the initial partnership between EA and Rhino Records aimed at highlighting music from the '80s and '90s. This year's "Throwback Trax" -- selected by EA worldwide director of music and audio Steve Schnur -- is Faith No More's "From Out of Nowhere."

Rhino Records also helped to license an exclusive "mash-up" of the D.O.C.'s "It's Funky Enough" and Earshot's "Wait" -- mixed by D.J. Z-Trip -- for the set.

"Madden NFL 2005" is the 15th edition in the franchise, which EA says has sold close to 37 million copies.

The project will feature songs from Green Day's upcoming "American Idiot" (Reprise) and ex-Creed consortium Alter Bridge's anticipated Wind-Up set. The line-up also includes acts like Franz Ferdinand, Yung Wun, Midtown and Hazen Street.
