BMG Music Publishing U.K. group managing director Paul Curran was today elected as the new chair of the Music Publishers Association (MPA) during the trade body’s annual general meeting in London. Curran was appointed to a 3-year term, which is subject to renomination each year.

“With over twenty years in the business and having joined the MPA Board back in 1989, Paul brings a wealth of valuable experience within the publishing business to the MPA at a crucial time for the future of both the music publishing business and the overall music industry,” comments MPA CEO Sarah Faulder.

The occasion also saw outgoing chairman Andrew Potter presented with a special MPA Gold Badge Award for his services to the music publishing industry.

Nicholas Riddle, managing director of publisher Peters Edition, was elected deputy chair of the MPA.
