Boston-based Berklee College of Music's online extension, Berkleemusic.com, will present a new online course in Apple Computer's audio recording and editing program, GarageBand. The course will commence in the Fall 2004 semester.

The Web-run course will allow participants to learn and apply Berklee's writing, arranging and production techniques to the GarageBand application, which was introduced in January.

The Berkleemusic environment also allows musicians the opportunity to collaborate with Berklee faculty and other students in real time.

Berklee claims enrollment of over 1,600 students from 55 countries in its online school since its inception in 2003. The college's online extension offers courses covering a range of music-industry subjects, including production, songwriting techniques, arranging, lyric writing and music publishing.
