Nashville-based Australian country singer Keith Urban has signed to Capitol/EMI Australia.

Nashville-based Australian country singer Keith Urban has signed to Capitol/EMI Australia. Urban was contracted to EMI Music Australia in the early part of his recording career, before switching to Warner Music Australia. He will return to tour Down Under in September in support of his new album "Be Here," which is due for release on September 20.

"Having heard many of the tracks from the upcoming album, I couldn't be more excited about what is ahead of us," comments John O'Donnell, managing director of EMI Australia. "This is definitely the record that will establish Keith as a global superstar," he adds.

The RIAA certified Urban's album "Golden Road" with double platinum status during June, in recognition of U.S. shipments in excess of 2 million units. The album is No. 59 on The Billboard 200 in its 92nd week on the chart. In Australia, "Golden Road" has shifted more than 70,000 copies (platinum) according to a spokesman.
