Weeks after Clear Channel Entertainment announced it would offer deep discounts on lawn seats at many CCE sheds, House Of Blues is kicking off a similar program, with $20 seats to more than 80 House of Blues shows at HOB venues nationwide.
In partnership with Ticketmaster and AOL, House of Blues is offering $20 tickets this week (July 19-25). The $20 ticket promotion comes without any per-ticket service charges. Some shows offer purchase opportunities such as "buy three lawn tickets and get the fourth free" and two-for-one offers on select reserved seats.
The discounts are in reaction to a soft concert season at the amphitheaters, but some in the industry frown on the practice, saying it devalues live entertainment.
Venues included in the promotion include Cleveland's Blossom Music Center and Scene Pavilion; Denver's Coors Amphitheatre and Paramount Theatre; San Diego's Coors Amphitheatre; Los Angeles' Greek Theatre (in association with Nederlander Concerts); the Gorge Amphitheatre in George, Wash.; Atlanta's HiFi Buys Amphitheatre; Marymoor Park in Redmond, Wash.; Paramount's Carowinds in Charlotte, N.C.; Paramount King's Dominion in Richmond, Va.; Cincinnati's Paramount King's Island; Paramount Redwood Amphitheatre in Santa Clara, Calif.; Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo.; Regency Park Amphitheatre in Cary, N.C.; Smirnoff Music Center in Dallas and Universal Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif.
