Online service MusicMatch, which has a subscription radio service and sells a la carte downloads, is expanding its offerings to include an integrated on-demand streaming service.

Online service MusicMatch, which has a subscription radio service and sells a la carte downloads, is expanding its offerings to include an integrated on-demand streaming service.

Consumers buying into MusicMatch On Demand -- $7.95 per month when billed annually -- will have unlimited access to the company's library of 650,000-plus streaming tracks. Users can build playlists and store on-demand tracks in the MusicMatch Jukebox 9.0 software alongside downloaded music and tunes recorded from CDs.

Users can build playlists via the Jukebox and share them with non-subscriber friends, who can listen to tracks three times for free. The program also features remote access, so users can access their music from multiple locations.

In launching the on-demand service, which is similar to RealNetworks' Rhapsody, MusicMatch has also upgraded its music search function, with a network of links between related artists based on the playing habits of its subscriber base.
