EMI Music Continental Europe chairman/CEO Jean Francois Cecillon continues to realign the management team of its French company with the appointment of Michel de Souza as its GM and commercial and operations director.

With immediate effect, De Souza succeeds Dominique Demosthene, who is leaving the company according to EMI. De Souza's new role sees him assume responsibility at EMI Music France for its commercial, logistics, distribution and trade marketing activities.

"I am delighted that Michel has agreed to join EMI. He has very broad managerial and marketing experience at both a label and corporate level," comments Cecillon in a statement. "His skills will put us in good stead as we rebuild our French company," Cecillon adds.

The appointment comes less than a fortnight after EMI France president Eric Tong Cuong exited the company. Cecillon has been acting president of EMI Music France since Tong Cuong's departure.

Cecillon and de Souza both worked for PolyGram France in the 1980s. De Souza started his career 20 years ago at Virgin Records in France and has gone on to hold titles as joint GM at Mercury, and as commercial and marketing director at Universal Music France. Most recently, he exited Warner Music France as director general under a broad restructuring at that company.
