Roadrunner Records has licensed Finnish metal band Nightwish's international breakthrough album "Once" for the United States, New Zealand and Australia. The agreement also includes Nightwish's next album.

"Once" is licensed to Roadrunner directly from the band, which funded the production itself before signing a deal for European release with German label Nuclear Blast. The Roadrunner deal was organized by Nightwish manager Ewo Rytkönen, who originally signed the band to Spinefarm while working as the Universal-owned label's A&R manager.

"Once" topped the European Top 100 Albums chart in July, and has shipped 500,000 copies, including double-platinum figures in Finland, and gold in Germany, Norway and Switzerland, according to Rytkönen.

The album will be released Oct. 5 in the United States. The band embarks on a North American tour Aug. 16 in Toronto, hitting 14 cities that include Montreal, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle.

Century Media Records released the band's previous albums in the United States.
