Story Of The Year will headline the second Nintendo Fusion Tour, which will also feature Lostprophets, My Chemical Romance, Letter Kills, Anberlin and Autopilot Off. The trek begins Sept. 18 in Phoenix and will encompass 37 dates, some of which are not yet finalized. Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy and Matchbook Romance will join the tour for an Oct. 7-8 stand in Seattle.
"It's Nintendo, so it was obviously one of the first systems we were into when we were 10 years old," Story Of The Year vocalist Dan Marsala tells Billboard.com. "We got free Gameboys and some old school games, which was an excellent bonus."
Plus, the tour's lineup is full of familiar faces. "The guys in Letter Kills are some of our best friends in the world," he adds. "Pretty much everybody else we've already toured with in the past."
Tickets for some shows go on sale Saturday (Aug. 14) via Ticketmaster. At each tour stop, the venue lobby will be transformed with gaming kiosks and previews of the latest Nintendo offerings, including the highly anticipated Nintendo DS hand-held system. In addition, one radio station contest winner at each show will get to compete in a video game challenge against a Story Of The Year member.
Marsala says Story Of The Year, currently on the road with the Warped Tour, is looking forward to the Nintendo Fusion shows in hopes of unveiling some new material. "We've been on the road for 17 months now straight," he says. "We've had a week off here and there, but after Warped and before the Nintendo tour, we have a whole month off. We're going to be happy about playing music again by the time that tour starts!"
Story of the Year is booked Ken Fermaglich at the Agency Group. Last year, the Nintendo tour was a key component in breaking Evanescence, also booked by the Agency Group.
Clear Channel Entertainment VP Rich Levy produces Nintendo.
