Distribution of L.A.-based Vagrant Records will move to Universal in January 2005 after its current P&D deal with TVT Records runs out, Vagrant partners Rich Egan and Jon Cohen tell Billboard.biz.

Vagrant has an existing relationship with Universal's Interscope Records, which acquired a minority interest in the label two years ago.

Vagrant has been distributed by TVT for nearly four years.

It is uncertain at this point if all of Vagrant's releases will run through Universal Music & Video Distribution, or if some product will be handled by Fontana Distribution, Universal's recently announced indie distribution arm.

The roster of punk-pop specialist Vagrant includes Dashboard Confessional, the Get Up Kids, Alkaline Trio, Hey Mercedes, From Autumn To Ashes and Paul Westerberg. The label also recently signed former Drive-Thru Records act Senses Fail.
