Garden Seeker Productions, an imprint operated by Ali Shaheed Muhammad, former member of A Tribe Called Quest and Lucy Pearl, has signed a distribution deal with Penalty Associated Labels, which moves through Ryko Distribution.

Muhammad's album "Shaheedullah & Stereotypes" will be released Oct. 12, to be followed later this year or in the first quarter of 2005 by releases from Chip Fu, Kay and Sy Smith.

"We're really happy about the Penalty/Ryko partnership," Muhammad tells Billboard.biz. "[Penalty CEO] Neil Levine actually worked some Tribe records in my early days when he had an independent marketing company. It's funny how you come back full circle."

Penalty is an umbrella distribution entity that also handles Disinformation, Blackstone, And 1, Activate, Insomniac, Native, Madd and Raptivism.
