Barry Levinson, the Oscar- and Emmy-winning director/producer/screenwriter, will receive the Career Achievement Award from the Video Software Dealers Assn. on the opening day of the Home Entertainment

Barry Levinson, the Oscar- and Emmy-winning director/producer/screenwriter, will receive the Career Achievement Award from the Video Software Dealers Assn. on the opening day of the Home Entertainment Retail Expo, which runs Sept. 21-22 at the Baltimore Convention Center.

Past winners have included Robert Duvall, Anthony Hopkins, Gregory Peck, Jack Lemmon and Robin Williams.

Levinson won the best director Oscar for 1988's "Rain Man." He also directed "Good Morning, Vietnam," directed and produced "Bugsy" and has worked on numerous television series, including "Oz" and "Homicide: Life on the Streets."

The Home Entertainment Retail Expo will feature 100 video exhibitors previewing fourth-quarter DVD releases and the latest trends in games, music and special-interest DVDs.
