The inaugural Cross Canadian Ragweed Family Jam is set for Sept. 11 at Oklahoma City's Zoo Amphitheater. The concert, presented by Oklahoma City radio station KTST FM, is promoted by Howard Pollack at the PM Group, along with the Zoo Amphitheatre.

In the tradition of Willie Nelson's 4th of July Picnics, the Family Jam will celebrate the thriving Oklahoma/Texas "red dirt" music scene. On the bill are such notables as Ragweed, Gary Allen, the Mike McClure Band, Wade Bowen & West 84, Stoney LaRue & Travis Linville, Susan Gibson, Reckless Kelly, Doug Moreland and the Red Dirt Rangers. Tickets are $28.

The event was put together in part to benefit Mandi's Ministries, a non-profit organization that promotes seatbelt safety and awareness. The organization is dedicated to Ragweed drummer Randy Ragsdale's 9-year-old sister, who was killed in a car accident in September 2001 as a result of wearing her seat belt improperly.

In other Oklahoma City news, Ragweed's members have become partners in the Bricktown location of the Wormy Dog Saloon, which is credited with spawning the Red Dirt music scene in its former location in Stillwater, Okla. The other partners are Ronnye Farmer and Eric Schiltz.
