With a total of six nods, including artist of the year, Paulina Rubio is the top nominee for the El Premio de la Gente Latin Music Fan Awards 2004. The awards, now in their sixth year, are slated to take place Oct. 21 at the Universal Amphitheatre in Studio City, Calif., and will air Oct. 30 on Telemundo.

Other top nominees include Grupo Montez de Durango and Obie Bermudez, both up for five
honors.

The awards were founded by Luis Medina and are produced by his company, Uno Productions of Los Angeles. Chevrolet is the title sponsor. Nominees are determined by Nielsen SoundScan sales figures; winners are chosen by fans, who can vote via the Internet, in retail outlets or by mailing in ballots.

In addition to fan-voted awards in 14 categories, special tributes will be given to Jose Luis Rodríguez ("El Puma"), radio DJ Renán Almendarez Coello and singers Paquita la del Barrio and Aniceto Molina.
