LONDON -- Film distributor 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment and sister company 20th Century Fox Film Corp. have launched a legal battle against three individuals over videos of the movie "X-Men 2."

In a writ issued June 11 at London's High Court and just made publicly available, Fox is seeking damages and injunctions against Video Watch, Star Video and Mr. Video for allegedly renting or lending unauthorized copies of the film.

Fox also seeks orders permitting it to visit the stores' premises to inspect their records and products.

The film companies say they are unaware of the extent of the infringing activities, but expect to win damages of more than £15,000 ($26,950) from each owner.
