Allen Johnson, longtime director of the Lakeland (Fla.) Civic Center complex, is moving to the same role at the Orlando (Fla.) Centroplex, effective Sept. 27. Johnson will replace Bill Becker, who is retiring.

Johnson, who has been at Lakeland for more than 16 years, will close out his run with a Sept. 25 sold-out show by Cher.

The Orlando Centroplex comprises the 72,000-seat Citrus Bowl stadium, the 17,500-seat TD Waterhouse Centre arena, the 5,000-seat Tinker Field and the 2,534-seat Bob Carr Performing Arts Center, as well as the 70,000-square-foot Expo Centre.

Lakeland says it is searching for a successor to Johnson.

Both the Lakeland and Orlando facilities are city-owned.
