Sean "P. Diddy" Combs is returning to his MTV reality show "Making the Band 2." In the new season, Combs will be assembling a women's R&B/hip-hop group. Auditions will begin next month in New York; the new season is expected to premiere next year.

The first two seasons of "Making the Band 2" featured the formation and development of hip-hop group Da Band. At the end of the show's second season, Combs abruptly broke up Da Band. Combs' Bad Boy label released Da Band's 2003 debut album, "Too Hot for TV," which has sold 569,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

The original "Making the Band" series, which aired on ABC and MTV from 2000 to 2002, starred O-Town, which released two albums on J Records before disbanding last year.
