Sylvia Rhone will join the Universal Motown Records Group (UMRG) at the beginning of October, say sources. Her new title is expected to be announced within the next two weeks.

Rhone exited her post as chairman/CEO of Elektra Entertainment Group in March. Speculation of her intent to join UMRG heated up in July with the departure of Motown Records president/CEO Kedar Massenburg.

At that time, heavy rumors also persisted that Rhone would succeed UMRG chairman Mel Lewinter, who has signed a new contract with the company and has been assisting in Motown's day-to-day operations following Massenburg's exit. However, sources said then that Rhone would not be replacing Massenburg or Lewinter, but would serve in a to-be-determined creative capacity.
