NBC Universal would bow project next year.
Singer/actress Vanessa Williams may add a new title to her resume: talk-show host. Sources confirm that Williams is close to signing a development deal with NBC Universal Domestic Television Distribution, which would launch her talk show next year.
Representatives for NBC Universal and Williams had no comment.
Williams has a previous relationship with NBC, as she appeared in several episodes of the network's "Boomtown" drama series before it was canceled last year. Earlier this year, she starred in the comedy film "Johnson Family Vacation."
The entertainer is signed to Lava/Atlantic, which is preparing two new Williams albums: the Christmas set "Silver & Gold," due Oct. 12, and a collection of '70s love songs, due in February 2005.
