Sony BMG Music Entertainment has named its upper tier of management for the territories in which it has operations outside the United States. The executives' titles have yet to be determined.

Sony BMG Music Entertainment has named its upper tier of management for the territories in which it has operations outside the United States. The executives' titles have yet to be determined.

Tim Bowen will oversee the company's businesses in the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. London-based Bowen is elevated from his post as chairman/CEO of BMG U.K. and Ireland.

Maarten Steinkamp
Maarten Steinkamp is tasked with Sony BMG Continental Europe. Munich-based Steinkamp was promoted from president of international for BMG. He will continue to oversee the merged operations of Sony BMG in G/S/A for the foreseeable future. Balthasar Schramm will exit as president of Sony Music G/S/A.

Richard Denekamp
Richard Denekamp will head Sony BMG Asia. Denekamp was president of Asia for Sony Music International, based in Hong Kong. His new responsibilities do not include BMG's operation in Japan, BMG Funhouse, which will continue to be overseen by president Hide Tashiro and Tim Prescott, who was recently appointed executive VP/chief marketing officer for Sony BMG Music Entertainment.

Frank J. Welzer


Frank J. Welzer takes the reins at Sony BMG Latin. Miami-based Welzer most recently served as chairman/CEO of Latin America for Sony Music International.



Rob Stringer
Additionally, Bowen has made two appointments in the regions he oversees. Rob Stringer is named chairman/CEO of Sony BMG Music Entertainment U.K. & Ireland. He has held the same title at Sony U.K. & Ireland since 2000.



Denis Handlin

Denis Handlin has been named chairman/CEO for Australia and New Zealand. He has held the same title at Sony Music since 1996 and has been a key exec at Sony and CBS Records in the region for more than 20 years.


Both will report to Bowen.
