(The Hollywood Reporter) -- Viacom Inc.'s Nickelodeon network and music firm BMG Strategic Marketing Group on Sept. 28 unveiled a multiyear agreement to expand Nick's presence in the music business and create a music brand for kids and tweens under the Nick Records moniker.

The label will feature talent from the network, soundtrack music based on its hit shows and compilations.

"Nickelodeon is clearly the leader in children and tween programming and entertainment," said Joe DiMuro, executive VP, BMG Strategic Marketing Group, in a statement. "We are excited to join forces with them."

Jeff Dunn, president of Nickelodeon Enterprises, said the initiative will further extend his company's business opportunities. "Developing a record label will allow us to explore another avenue for showcasing Nick talent," he said. "Music plays such a vibrant role in kids' lives. Nick Records will give them great music and new choices across a variety of styles."
