Reed Midem, organizer of the annual Midem music trade fair, has inked a 10-year agreement with the City of Cannes to maintain its international tradeshows on the French Riviera. The partnership, announced today (Oct. 5), will see Reed Midem's confabs continue to take place in the city's Palais des Festivals until at least 2014.

Commenting on the "marriage," Paris-based Reed Midem CEO Paul Zilk, says it "allows ourselves, the City of Cannes and the Palais des Festivals, to adopt a long-term strategy. Together, we will continue to work on improving services to our international clients." Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

In a statement, the event organizer says Cannes is preparing two separate projects to enlarge the exhibition facilities, due for completion in 2006 and 2008, respectively.

The Midem Organization was founded in 1963, and launched its first trade fair, Miptv, in Lyon in the same year. Two years later, Miptv relocated to Cannes. Midem Organization was sold in 1987 to a group of investors, who in turn sold three years later to British company Reed Exhibition.

Reed Midem claims more than 52,000 industry visitors in 2003 attended its international exhibitions, which include property markets Mipim and Mapic, as well as TV and new media shows MipTV, Mipcom and Milia. The 39th edition of the Midem trade fair will take place January 23-27, 2005.
