The Orchard has inked distribution and marketing deals with 11 independent labels: Amphetamine Reptile, Laugh, Crash Music, Invisible, Tomato Records, Universal Egg, Pirate Entertainment, Amulet Records, Diesel Only, Napalm Records and Document Records.

Under the agreements, the Orchard will service music from the likes of the Melvins, Helmet, Killing Joke, Buddy Guy, Townes Van Zandt, Louis Armstrong and Muddy Waters to digital-music sellers, including eMusic, iTunes, MSN, MusicMatch and Real/Rhapsody.

The Orchard says it plans to make more than 1 million tracks available for purchase within 18 months.
