OD2, Europe's leading digital-music service, has clinched a deal to power and manage a new digital-music store on SAPO Networks, the broadband Web portal operated by telephone group Portugal Telecom.

The online music service, which went live yesterday (Oct. 13), offers downloadable tracks by the four majors -- EMI, Sony BMG, Warner Music International and Universal Music International -- and various independent labels.

The move into Portugal means OD2 and its Seattle-based parent company Loudeye Corp. are now providing services in 17 countries worldwide.
