Joao Araújo has left his longtime post as president of Brazil's leading indie label, Som Livre. Araújo, a 30-year company veteran, will now act as a consultant to the label, which is a division of Brazil's Globo Network.

Sources say Araújo's departure is part of an ongoing plan to restructure the company. Day-to-day operations of Som Livre are now being overseen by managing director Roberto Pinheiro.

Som Livre is best known for its compilations and soap opera soundtracks. The label also has Xuxa as an exclusive artist.
