MCE eyes label, management expansion.

Veteran Australian promoter Michael Chugg has restructured his company as it moves into a number of projects, including setting up a record label and expanding its management stable.

Sydney-based Chugg, formerly managing director of Michael Chugg Entertainment (MCE), becomes its CEO. With Florida-based promoter Jack Utsick Worldwide Entertainment Group as an MCE partner since 2001, Chugg says he intends to spend more time working on projects in the United States.

MCE's new MD is Matthew Lazarus-Hall, who held senior positions in distribution, operations and customer services at ticketing agency Ticketek for the last four years. Prior to that, he was operations manager at the Adelaide Entertainment Center.

Caroline Tully continues as GM of MCE, overseeing major tours, while AJ Maddah remains director of alternative tours. Manager Justin Van Stom becomes head of MCE's artist-management division.

MCE's current Australian tours include R.E.M., Mark Knopfler, Keith Urban, Tina Arena and Guy Sebastian. The company also runs the Melbourne International Music Festival and the Perth Moonlight Music and Wine Festival.

MCE was ranked in the top 10 of the world's biggest-grossing promoters in midyear reports from Billboard Boxscore.
