Xzibit has been confirmed as host of the MTV Europe Music Awards 2004, to be held Nov. 18 at the Tor Di Valle in Rome.

The hip-hop artist's fifth full-length album, "Weapons of Mass Destruction" (Columbia), is due Dec. 14 in the United States.

Harriett Brand, senior VP, music, MTV Networks International, says the artist's profile soared after hosting MTV's "Pimp My Ride." "Undeniably the biggest smash hit MTV show of the year around the world, ['Pimp My Ride'] has managed to spread the gospel of Xzibit still further and made him a true household name," Brand tells Billboard.biz.

In other news, Alicia Keys and Usher will deliver a rendition of their hit "My Boo" (LaFace) during the event. Local singer Tiziano Ferro will also perform at the gala. They join previously announced performers that include Eminem, Beastie Boys, Franz Ferdinand, Gwen Stefani, the Hives, Maroon 5 and Nelly.
