Look for veteran Christian record executive Jim Van Hook to take the top spot at Warner-owned Word Entertainment in Nashville.

Van Hook, founder and former chairman of Provident Music Group, left the BMG-owned company early in 2003. Months later he re-surfaced as dean of the Mike Curb College of Entertainment and Music Business at Belmont University in Nashville. Sources say he will remain involved in the college as well as taking over the helm at Word.

Although Van Hook's title has not been named, he is succeeding Word president/COO Malcolm Mimms, who exited in September when his contract was not renewed. In the wake of Mimms' departure, Word Label Group president Barry Landis began reporting to Tom Whalley, chairman/CEO of Warner Bros. Records.

Word, founded 53 years ago, is one of the key players in the Christian music industry. Its roster includes Point of Grace, Jaci Velasquez, Rachael Lampa, Building 429 and Randy Travis.
